Setting the NTSC 8 Chassis Number
When installing new NTSC-8’s into a system, make sure that the chassis number for each NTSC-8 has been set. To do this, take the top plate of each unit and manually set the chassis number using the internal DIP switch. Using the table below, you can set the NTSC-8’s chassis number from 0-14.

Updating NTSC-8 Firmware
When updating an NTSC-8, obtain the latest firmware from the Technicolor firmware website. Afterward, complete the following steps.
- Unzip the firmware file you downloaded:
- If you are using TeamViewer, either download the firmware file using the property’s computer, or move the firmware file to the property’s computer after it is downloaded.
- Log into the Com
- Go to the Pairing Info tab
- Under Browser Upload, click Choose File
- Navigate to the unzipped firmware file and select Open
- Click Upload and the file you have chosen will appear above in the box name Filename:
- Highlight and copy the file name
- Go to the NTSC tab on the Com
- Scroll to the bottom and paste the filename into the tftpFilename: box.
- To the right of the tftpip: box, there is a check box. Make sure to check this box to indicate that you would like to upgrade all NTSC-8 units. Each NTSC-8 has 8 units that each need to be updated.
- Click submit. If you are on-site, the lights on the front of the NTSC-8 will change colors to indicate that they are updating. If you are remotely updating, wait 5-10 min and then refresh the NTSC page. The SW version listed for each channel will reflect the new firmware version if it was able to update.
Configuring a Com to Stream to NTSC-8:
When using NTSC-8s to deliver Com signal to a property, the signal will be sent via IP on the Com. When selecting the NTSC tab, a list of all connected NTSC-8 units is displayed. The two fields needed to configure the channels correctly are: 1: IP and 2: modId.
The first field (if configured properly) should read as follows:
192.168.5.2 – 192.168.5.9
This is the IP address to which you will configure channels. Also required is the port that the channel will be using when configuring an IP channel on a Com. This number is located in the modId field. It will run 1-8, and will reset for each NTSC-8.
The 2nd NTSC-8 will have different IP addresses, but the ports will also start at 1 and continue to 8. When configured properly in the Com, the IP will look like this:
192.168.5.10:1 – 192.168.5.18:8
There are two ways to verify that signal is going to the NTSC-8: your first option is physically looking at the front of the NTSC-8. The lights on the front will turn green when they are receiving a stream from a channel. The other option is to check the NTSC tab on the Com in the “bytesReceived” field. When the page is refreshed, the numbers in the field should consistently be going up.
Streaming EPG to NTSC-8
To send an EPG from the Com to the NTSC 8, choose what channel you want the EPG on and set the appropriate IP address of the desired NTSC-8 channel (Example 192.168.5.1-48 or 192.168.11.1-48). On the base port, instead of using 1-8, set it to 1235. When sending anything other than channel from the Com to the NTSC-8, the port that is used is 1235.
