PD100/Zycast/Cabletronix through NTSC8

When sending content via a PD100 through the NTSC8 you will need to first set the PD100 to the network you are using for the NTSC8. For example if you are streaming using 192.168.5.1 then the PD100’s network will need to be set to 192.168.5.55 (or higher if there are enough NTSC8’s to reach .55)`

When you set the streaming ip address you will need to use the following:

  • Primary or Secondary IP address. EX: 192.168.5.1-8 or 192.168.11.1-8
  • The port should ALWAYS be set to 1235. Unlike on the Com we will not be using 1-8
  • Output method should be UDP Unicasting

Pico Digital for managed DRE:

  1. Click on the Network Setup tab
  2. Change the IP address to 172.16.1.55
  3. Change the Subnet mask to 255.255.0.0
  4. Change the Default Gateway to 172.16.1.1
  5. Change the DNS server to 8.8.8.8
  6. Change the NTP server to 8.8.4.4
  7. Click save and you should lose connectivity to the PD100. Change your IPv4 setting again to the following:
    1. IP address 172.16.1.1
    2. Subnet mask 255.255.0.0
  8. Log back into the PD100 using the IP address 172.16.1.55. Go to the Encoder setup page. Make sure that the following values are in each field:
    1. Video Input: Auto detect
    2. Video Output: h.264
    3. Resolution: Same as Input
    4. Frame rates: Same as Input
    5. H.264 Profile: BASE
    6. H.264 Level: Level 1
    7. HD Bitrate: 10
    8. SD Bitrate: 4
    9. Aspect Ratio: 16:9
    10. Audio Input: Auto Detect
    11. Audio Output: AC-3
    12. Audio Bitrate: 256 Kbps
    13. TS ID: 1
    14. Program Number: 100
    15. PMT PID: 1000
    16. Video PID: 4176
    17. Audio PID: 4177
    18. PCR PID: 4176
  9. Click save settings at the bottom of the screen.
  10. Go to the streaming setup page and set the following values:
    1. Protocol: RTP Multicasting
    2. Destination IP: 239.255.101.0
      • The range of usable channels are 2500-2600, and the number that identifies the channel is the 3rd set. Example: 239.255.XXX.0 with XXX being the identifier. The equation to discover XXX is as follows: To set a channel on 2546, we subtract 2400 from the desired channel number. 2546 – 2400 = 146. Therefore, the IP address for channel 2546 is 239.255.146.0. Likewise 2501 – 2400 = 101. Thus, the IP address for channel 2501 is 239.255.101.0
    3. Destination Port: 50000
    4. Multicast TTL: 1
    5. Click add after you have set all of these values and a new line should appear in the Streaming List box below.
    6. Click save on the bottom of the page.

After you have completed all changes, your PD100 setup is complete for a Managed DRE and is ready to be connected. Make sure you connect the unit to the designated port for LCI on the MDF switch. All other configurations will need to be performed on the managed system. Please refer to the Managed DRE section for these configurations.
